Dr. Jon Tay is a Marketer by profession. He is a lecturer of Dasein Academy of Art, tutor of Wawasan Open University Malaysia and Professor of Business Administration of Nugaal University (Somalia) and Social Welfare and Development Organisation (Somalia). He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from Calamus Extension College, London. He holds a Masters of Business Administration in International Management from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Australia, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Studies from University of Buckingham, UK, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.
He is a Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and a Member of the Malaysian Economic Association at University Malaya. He has gained substantial experience in processing SME financing whilst attached to a finance company which provided loan, overdraft and trade financing to small and medium sized companies.
He has more than 16 years experience in tertiary business education and specialises in facilitating marketing and management modules for DBA, MBA and BBA degrees. Topics that are of particular interest are Direct Marketing, International Marketing, Strategic Marketing Management, Marketing Communications, Media Production Management, Introduction to Economics, International Business Management, Entrepreneurship and Production and Operations Management. He has facilitated for UK, American and Australian universities at partner campuses or university colleges here in Malaysia.
He has also gained suitable instruction from Australian and UK training consultancies on training fresh graduates from Malaysia, in harnessing their employability skills. He has done marketing research and opened the pathway to the Middle East via Oman, for a public listed MLM company and was instrumental in modelling its franchising business. He has also led a team of sales executives in the B to B marketing and distribution of furnishing materials produced by an MNC. Other activities that he has partaken in are accounts preparation and the analysis of financial statements for a white goods retailer.
